Beta test our upcoming CommandIR II, a integrated multi-blasting transceiver only for Linux.

    Not familar with CommandIR?
Meet CommandIR Mini (available now) or CommandIR II beta.

It takes time for plug-and-play support to get into mainstream Linux and MythTV distributions after the hardware's ready to roll. So if you're Linux-savvy and want to get the next generation CommandIR before everyone else, why not beta-test for us?

Why Beta Test?

  • Get all the benefits of the new CommandIR without waiting for the public release
  • Take advantage of our hardware subsidy
  • Keep your hardware - easy to install when the next MythTV distro's are released

What's Required from Beta-Testers

  • Run through the CommandIR Functionality Checklist (as applicable to you)
  • At least 1 emitter must be used
  • Let us know what makes/models of remotes & devices you're testing with
  • Let us know any problems you have
  • Let us know any improvements you would like to see (optional)
  • Joining the beta-test email list (unsubscribe anytime)
  • Testing should be completed within two weeks of receiving new CommandIR

In Case of Hardware Change

While we have extensively tested the hardware and firmware of the next generation CommandIR in-house and with alpha-testing are confident in its finalization, in the event that beta testing leads to late-stage hardware or firmware changes then we will replace your Beta CommandIR for the cost of shipping.

Next Generation CommandIR Functionality Checklist

  • USB detected (lsusb)
  • LIRC driver detects (irw shows "CommandIR Ready")
  • Internal Receiver Test: CommandIR detects your standard remote (Hauppauge, MCE, etc)
  • External Receiver Test (optional): CommandIR uses your external receiver to detect standard remotes
  • Basic Control Test: CommandIR controls devices on each channel: 1, 2, 3, 4
  • Torture Control Test: Run a script that queues 10 signals for transmitting in parallel on each channel
  • LED Test: Use 'irsend' to set CommandIR red/green LEDs to on/off/blink/blink2
  • Jack Sensing Test: CommandIR correctly triggers LIRC events when IR emitters are plugged-in and unplugged (irw shows "Jack-1-Unplugged" etc)
